More images from Bangkok Pre-wedding: Jordan and Stella

Bangkok Pre-Wedding

Other than Europe and Australia, this is my second time doing a Pre-Wedding shoot in South-East Asia, outside of Singapore and Sri Lanka. I would die to shoot a wedding in India!
I’ve never been a fan of gleaming skyscrapers, but a fanatic with all things old, rusty, faded, and just brimming with character – old people and wrinkles included. It just adds so much dimension to the portrayal of the passing of time, and for an understanding to how people have lived.
When Jordan and Stella first approached me to discuss a pre-wedding photoshoot in Bangkok, I almost jumped. Imagine the traffic, the chaos against a white wedding gown! Swell.
We didn’t have a list of must-dos for this shoot, keeping to a fairly straightforward itinerary, and I’m glad Jordan and Stella were such easy travellers. We were stuck in various traffic jams though, the time we spent in the vehicle far outshines the time I’m actually clicking.
Images to share, and will be updated along the way.
Thanks for looking

Pensive Vs curious. There’s an honest beauty to shooting in South-East Asia, its everywhere you turn

oh sweet light… casting golden on the hair, and shadows in all the right places

Wedding day portraits with the 1973 MBG GT

I had already walked away from the first segment of the wedding shoot when M called me to say, “We forgot to take photos with the car!”

I thought… “what car? Oh… the bridal car!”

It was raining, the sky was a tad grey. We arranged to meet up again and perhaps grab a few more shots at the hotel’s sheltered carporch. The basement carpark maybe a bit of drab. Then it dawned on me – CHIJMES! Just around the corner of Carlton Hotel, where M and CY’s wedding lunch was held earlier.

I waited for the couple to turn in, and immediately, WOW! It’s a red 1965 MGB GT! This is gonna be so swell. I am a sucker for vintage cars, heritage cars, all those sexy curves and cute proportions. It was drizzling quite a bit so we had to do this really fast. I wasn’t thinking very much, just went with intuition, and went viral. CY felt slightly awkward, but M’s smiles and giggles really made a difference to the atmosphere and the pictures. All the elements perfectly blended together – the dull drizzles VS M’s smiles, the old GT against the backdrop of Chijmes, the red of the car and the red of the Chinese Kua, and the cobbled floor.

Amazing that the stranger in the background is wearing the Union Jack, same as the little plate on CY’s car!

Tiong Bahru Walkabout -Xinrong & Jason

Simple. Unpretentious. No fuss.
Xinrong & Jason were clear about the type of shoot they wanted to commemorate their wedding.
We did some greens at Botanical Gardens, and a walkabout in the pre-war, hip-again Tiong Bahru estate, where the couple live.
A wonderful experience:)

Slight rainfall but the shoot went on
Egg cartons and Maggie, well-trained star dog:)
With star dog Maggie!

We happened to pass by a fruit stall and stopped for pictures, only to find out from the owner that it is his last day of business, after more than 30 years in Tiong Bahru. Vey sorry to hear that the shop’s glory days are over. Even worse to think that some of our traditions will ultimately disappear with the demise of these small businesses. Uncle still puts his money in a tin can suspended from the ceiling. Jason bought some fruit juice and we made sure to grab some pictures with the man.
And a picture in front of his shop.

Sunshine after the rain: pre-wedding sneak

The weather lately has been rather gloomy, with with the haze and thunderstorms. Up till last night I was wondering how today’s photos would turn out, and how to make the best of the situation, because a rainy day can bring lots of interesting, unexpected images!
But the rain cleared up in time for Grace & Ted’s pre-wedding photos this morning, so we didn’t have to deal with that.

We’re taking a break in-between the shoot right now, here are some images that were shot earlier.

Berlin Pre-Wedding: Lesley & HP

When you photograph a close friend, things get more intimate and personal. You know her taste, her style, her favourite colours, and after having grown up with her for so many years, you also know her best angles. This shoot has taught me alot about how to bring an emotive aspect into pictures, how to think, and feel with each photo and edit.

Here are the pre-wedding photos of my dear friend Lesley, and her soon-hubby, HP, photographed in Berlin. It’s was a really wonderful experience putting on camera two people I love, in a beautiful city, with a group of friends who came along. Thank you guys!
