Tiong Bahru Walkabout -Xinrong & Jason

Simple. Unpretentious. No fuss.
Xinrong & Jason were clear about the type of shoot they wanted to commemorate their wedding.
We did some greens at Botanical Gardens, and a walkabout in the pre-war, hip-again Tiong Bahru estate, where the couple live.
A wonderful experience:)

Slight rainfall but the shoot went on
Egg cartons and Maggie, well-trained star dog:)
With star dog Maggie!

We happened to pass by a fruit stall and stopped for pictures, only to find out from the owner that it is his last day of business, after more than 30 years in Tiong Bahru. Vey sorry to hear that the shop’s glory days are over. Even worse to think that some of our traditions will ultimately disappear with the demise of these small businesses. Uncle still puts his money in a tin can suspended from the ceiling. Jason bought some fruit juice and we made sure to grab some pictures with the man.
And a picture in front of his shop.

Pre-Wedding Photography: MJ & Champ

I love this couple! Mingjing and Champ are just bursting with energy, and sooo in love =)
Thank you, both of you, for trusting me 100% with your shoot, allowing 100% freedom and creativity, and most importantly injecting so much fun into it.

Wedding Day Photography: Clara & Ben

It rained in the early morning and cleared the day for a cool morning for Clara & Ben, who had the gate crash and tea ceremony in the morning, in both their parent’s homes, before proceeding to the Four Seasons Hotel for the Banquet at night.

Clara getting her make up done in the morning. A clear flush of window light from Clara’s room, yay.

The sisters, co-ordinated in a theme of red and black.
An emotional prayer for Clara before the day’s proceedings began.
Shoes! Red Shoes! Love
Ben arrives to pick his bride up.
Oops, a bit of wardrobe mal-function there and Clara’s brother rushes to adjust Ben’s jacket before he heads upstairs to the flat.
Peeping out during the gatecrash
It’s quite a puzzle to solve here as the groomsmen are given song lyrics to piece together. The only problem is, the song is sung in cantonese but the lyrics read in Chinese.
Clara’s niece wants to join in too. Cutest little girl I’ve ever seen!
The Beautiful bride arrives at her in-laws. I love clara’s dress, a ball gown shape, for its simplicity and lace details at the bottom.
Tea-ceremony with the in-laws
Heading to our photography session in Orchard Road.
At the Ion
The march-in at Four Seasons Hotel
It was clever of the couple to hold their ROM (registry of marriages) ceremony just before the dinner banquet, witnessed by everyone.
Presenting the newly-weds!

On Nostalgic binge

Always had a crush or two for 80s Singapore.
Mama shops, Void Decks, Longkangs, Socialist architecture, long HDB corridors, tricycles, tin cups, wet markets, Tak qiu, old men playing chess and hanging out with song-birds in cages on display.
These images remind me of a smelly childhood bolster that never gets thrown away. Feels like home deep deep down.

Perhaps the charm lies in that these social enclaves get bulldozed and reconstructed before we get to live our lives completely in them?

I am glad to have clients who share a love for things like that.

Re-hashing some old, and previously unshown pics from Don and Eileen’s pre-wedding shoot.
