Tiong Bahru Walkabout -Xinrong & Jason

Simple. Unpretentious. No fuss.
Xinrong & Jason were clear about the type of shoot they wanted to commemorate their wedding.
We did some greens at Botanical Gardens, and a walkabout in the pre-war, hip-again Tiong Bahru estate, where the couple live.
A wonderful experience:)

Slight rainfall but the shoot went on
Egg cartons and Maggie, well-trained star dog:)
With star dog Maggie!

We happened to pass by a fruit stall and stopped for pictures, only to find out from the owner that it is his last day of business, after more than 30 years in Tiong Bahru. Vey sorry to hear that the shop’s glory days are over. Even worse to think that some of our traditions will ultimately disappear with the demise of these small businesses. Uncle still puts his money in a tin can suspended from the ceiling. Jason bought some fruit juice and we made sure to grab some pictures with the man.
And a picture in front of his shop.

ROMM solemnization: Stacy & Andy

A few sneaks from Stacy and Andy’s marriage solemnizations at the Registry of Muslim Marriages this morning. Stacy’s lace Kebaya is traditional yet bridal. Oh so pretty!

Wedding of Keemin and Holly

The wedding of Keemin and Holly last night concludes my string of shoots for 2010. It’s been a fabulous year! YAY! And I’m so happy to finish it at such an emotional wedding, filled with great speeches.

Keemin and Holly are a lawyer and a scientist based in Los Angeles and New York who have made love happen from the east coast to the west coast of America. They met as friends at Drew University in New Jersey and fell in love later, which makes their long distance relationship so rare and sweet. Holly said during her speech, that her parents did not have passports until now as they have not stepped out of America all their lives, but when she announced she was holding a ceremony in Singapore, they all said Yeah, they’ll get themselves here for the occasion. Some other guests present had survived a 60-hour flight delay at the JFK airport in New York, due to winter blizzards, to get here, and were still awake. The wedding was also an introduction for Holly’s family, meeting Keemin’s very warm extended family, plus so many other friends eager to catch up, what a reunion!

Wedding Photographer: Mindy Tan

Wedding Videographer: Why Keen from Ichiro Films (so easy to work with!)

Venue: Hotel Intercontinental Singapore, Ballroom

Hairstylist: Haslina

Received a note from Keemin:)

“Mindy, we loved working with you – it was hardly any work! Can’t wait to see what you’ve captured. Happy New Year!”

Fishes in love

This was a shoot I’d been waiting for ever since meeting Kelvin and Ailin. Instead of a traditional pre-wedding shoot, they wanted to do family shoots for their album. When we were brainstorming locations, I got all excited and hyper. Kelvin and Ailin really did their homework, scouting around different prawn fishing farms in Singapore until they finally found this one. Super Rustic, Super Singapore in the 1980s, I just Love it!
Here are shots to share, and will be updating the post as I go along.
