Hello Bride-to-be! You have spent hours preparing for your wedding and wish for everything to go smoothly. The photographer is there to capture all the details, and in return, you’ll want a set of beautiful images to remember the day with.
While the photographer is at the wedding working hard to capture those moments to perfection, here’s how you can help her/him along. Some of my personal tips for the couple:
1. Moisturise, moisturise moisturise! It starts months before, not days before. Make sure your skin is plum and healthy. Lines show up in pictures, especially with the capability of today’s cameras. As much as it is convenient for guests and friends to say “Oh nevermind, you can photoshop that.” And while you have paid handsomely for your photographer to do that, a photoshopped image will never be the same as an image off the camera. Think: Painting on a smooth wall, VS Painting on a flaky wall.
2. Don’t bite your lips. Including the groom! It’s something I am guilty of too. This shows up very clearly in photos.
3. Grooms should exfoliate before the shoot. I am not kidding. Most men think they aren’t the stars of the day. Most men don’t take to make-up either. So brides, make sure your hubby comes with a good patch of face skin.
4. Don’t drink 2 hours before bedtime the night before the shoot. Puffy eyes quite hard to photoshop, really.
5. For Pre-weddings: What time of the day do you look best in? That’s probably also the best time for the shoot.
6. Have images of your hair-do ready for the make-up artist – the best way to describe how exactly you want your hair done. It can be tears of pages from magazines, or images saved to your iphone. Whichever way, a picture says a thousand words. If you want magic from the make-up artist, help them make this magic.
7. Pack food for the pre-wedding shoot, and snack bars if you won’t have time to eat on the wedding day. Being the star is hard work, and pre-wedding shoots can be quite a hike!
8. Bring a pretty Umbrella! In case it rains for rainy day shots.
9. When a timing is requested, please try to be on time… or miss the magic light.
10. Ask me before the shoot if you’re unsure about anything, or if you may have any unusual requests.
I look forward to seeing you at your most beautiful![]()
